Homemade Coconut oil

Do you know that you can make your own coconut oil at home?

And this can be preserved not only in fridge but in pantry as well! You can check out my previous post on Homemade coconut milk as I will use freshly homemade milk which I made here homemade coconut milk recipe

Ingredients:
1 ½ cup fresh coconut milk

Method:

Place your coconut milk in a large bowl, seal it with a clingfilm

Place a tight cover and store in dark room temperature area for 24 hours

Now move it to fridge for another 24 hours to proceed the fermentation. Now as you take it put from fridge, you will notice on the top, the fat has been separated from the remaining liquid.

With the help of a metal strainer, gently scoop out the fat blocks. - the fat is the oil!

Store air tight container or bottle tight and place in pantry till it dissolves or keep in fridge. Do you know you can make chocolate chips with coconut oil? I will post the recipe soon!

NOTE: Sometimes you may noticed some brown coloring on the top of your coconut oil as shown in picture below. This is totally natural as you have processed natural unbleached oil. The brown color is simply the coconut fiber that occurs during processing. So it is totally natural for a fresh flavorful unbleached oil.

Homemade Coconut Milk Recipe

Today I will show you how to make a homemade dairy-free coconut milk that can help you to use in many other recipes. This homemade coconut milk is just organic, no preservatives, no gums or stabilizers.

You can make your own fresh coconut milk with ripe browned shell coconuts at home!

You can make it ànd drink it immediately or you can store it in fridge for cooking or baking purpose. This fresh milk is healthy and the great thing is that it has a pure natural flavor of fresh coconut!

Let's start:
Ingredients -
3 medium sized ripe coconut (peel, remove the brown skin as we will need only the white meat)
2 cups of water (including the fresh coconut water)

Important materials -
Regular blender
Cheesecloth

Method --

Blend all the ingredients well until the texture seems creamy and the coconuts are blended very thinly as shown in picture

Take a large bowl and cover it with your cheesecloth to strain the blended coconuts. Pour the blended coconut into the cheesecloth. And close the mouth tightly with your hand and squeeze about 20 times until no liquid drops out from the cheesecloth.

Now the liquid is separated from the pulp. Keep the shredded pulp for alternate use, do not throw as you can use it in macaroons or turn it into coconut flour. You can do good stuffs with shredded coconut!
