1 cup of granulated white sugar
1/2 cup of freshly made orange juice + 1 tsp orange zest
1½ cup plain flour
2 tsp baking powder
1 tbsp or a splash of vanilla essence
1/4 cup of vegetable oil + 1 tsp for chocolate batter
1 tsp of unsweetened cocoa powder for chocolate batter
Confectioners sugar for dusting
Method
Preheat oven 175 degrees C.
Take a large bowl
Add 2 small eggs and 1 cup of granulated white sugar
Mix lightly.
Add 1/2 cup of orange juice and 1 tsp of orange zest.
Whisk well.
Place a sifter on top of the same bowl
Add 1½ cup of plain flour, 2 tsp of baking powder and sift.
Add 1 tsp of salt (Salt has already been added previously in the video recipe)
Now mix slowly and then add 1/4 of vegetable oil and 1 tbsp of vanilla essence.
Mix until combined.
Now prepare the chocolate batter for the marble cake.
Take a small bowl and add 2 tbsp of the batter, 1 tsp of unsweetened cocoa powder and 1 tsp of vegetable oil.
Mix well.
Pour 1/3 of the white batter in your prepared baking tin. Shake to spread.
Drizzle with a bit of chocolate batter and use a toothpick to swirl the color to create a marble effect.
Continue the same process until done.
Bake in preheated oven for 35 to 40 minutes or until toothpick test.
You may also gently press the cake to see if it springs back means your cake is baked.
Let sit for 5 minutes.
Place a plate or a lid on the top of the baking tin and invert the cake.
Remove the baking tin and peel off the parchment paper.
Revert the cake back and sprinkle with confectioners sugar.
Let cool a little bit and slice.
Ready to enjoy!
